The Customer is Wrong

 
Situation:  You are advising a team that includes customers from two different departments that have a long-standing rivalry, but you have a good relationship with both.  After many hours of negotiation, the team has finally agreed on a solution that satisfies both departments, but you know that it is not the best solution for the company as a whole.  In fact, their solution is in direct conflict with one of the strategic objectives of the organization.
